Dear incoming eighth graders and all members of the Big Apple Academy extended family,
As you all know, our academic program in the middle school significantly differs from the educational programs offered to students across the Empire State. For many decades, our signature curricula have enabled our graduates to succeed in high school and beyond, preparing them for the state examinations in five core subject areas. Below you will find the Big Apple Academy Middle School Accountability Report that demonstrates our students’ performance in comparison to their public school counterparts. According to 2017-2018 New York State and the Big Apple Academy assessment data, our students have significantly outperformed their public school peers in all Regents Examinations. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our experienced and highly committed teachers: Diana Kuzminer, Lyudmila Bogary, Erica Lemma, Alex Braguine, Irina Primak, Ilona Gitsin, and Elina Nazarov. These teachers dedicated years of their professional careers to teaching the Graduating Class of 2018 and contributed volumes of their knowledge and expertise to the academic success of our 2018 graduates!
However, the September breeze of the newborn school year brings new challenges for our 2019 graduating cohort. This year the incoming eighth graders will navigate the terrains of state examinations such as Algebra I, Geometry, English Language Arts, U.S. History, and Living Environment. I encourage all students and parents to collaborate closely with our teaching teams and pay attention to all necessary academic guidelines. I am certain that the 2019 cohort will triumphantly conquer the Big “5” engraving their names in the proud legacy of the Big Apple Academy.
Best Regards,
Vlad Gorny
Principal
